Amara’s Blogs- Meet Yoyo

After months of travelling all the way up to Northland to all the way down to Christchurch and getting quite carsick driving to Kaikoura, making very hard decisions, some heart break, sore muscles, waking up at 4 in the morning to it being 1oC, riding in the pouring down rain and not being able to feel my feet and hands, we found the perfect horse just 2 hours from home!

Meet Yoyo aka LC Underberg! Yoyo is a 15.3hh, gelding, New Zealand Sport Horse by Lindberg des Hayettes out of Yadlavie. I’ve owned Yoyo for about 7 weeks now and he has been nothing short of amazing, riding wise and personality wise. I feel I’ve already improved a heap in the short time we’ve been a team, although Daisy is awesome, I am quite limited with what I can do with her since she is a young horse. Yoyo did Grand Prix with his previous owner Laura Hilhorst and I plan to be competing in the Young Rider series and beyond in the future with Yoyo.

As well as being awesome in the ring he is such a smooch in the paddock! He loves cuddles and scratches, especially bum scratches! I think he freaked the farrier out a little bit when he swung his bum into him and demanded a scratch.

I really look forward to this season with Yoyo and seeing what we can do together. Of course, a big thanks to Mark Wells/my amazing coach for finding both of my superstar horses: Daisy ECPH and LC Underberg, and for all the amazing opportunities I’ve been offered including the latest which is being chosen to attend the Evolution Equestrian Academy in September.
