Rocky’s Blogs – “Clean My Feet”
I should have told you in part one, it is so important that your human cleans out the dirt in all our hooves before riding! all us horses know the feeling of packed dirt in our hooves, the rider trying to make us go in a “Frame or on the Bit” whilst our hooves are hurting us- not pleasant.
I have seen some of my mates at the start of a ride with stones imbedded in their hooves- Ouch!

Nana doing her duty , hose off the dirt first - Pretty simple eh?
If any of your humans forget to do this I suggest you limp really badly, that will get their attention and they wont forget again!

Nana cleaning out my back hooves, this is the " Danger Zone" but not with me. ( Keep in mind though, the only horse that does not kick is a dead horse - and me lol )
Slightly less important is the brushing job- Any mud left around the girth area or between the front legs is a recipe for disaster, once nana did this at an endurance race, and then when the horse ( not me thankfully) had to trot up at the vet inspection it was stiff and sore, so the vet disqualified nana.
A hint for lovely groomed manes and tails is to pinch your husbands, boyfriends or your parents silicone spray, its a lubricant, our tails get tangled with dirt and twigs etc, and none of us like the feeling of our humans tugging at the knots, so… you know what to do, Squeaky car doors, jammed windows, and horses tails- its brilliant stuff.

Oh, i forgot to say, nana always cleans my hooves out into a bucket, that way the yard stays tidy.

This is how Nana clean out my hooves into a bucket- Neat and Tidy- I think nana suffers from OCD - LOL!
Ok, well I got to go, nanas warming up the truck ! Woohooooo!
